Event Details

August 25th Meeting: Take a bite of Mango, but don't eat the peel.

"Mango" is ripe and ready for prime time.  Come out on August 25th to see the many new features that are coming with the Windows Phone 7 Mango update.  Microsoft's Joe Healy will be presenting on this topic.

About the presentation:

Windows Phone "Mango" introduced a wide range of enhancements for Windows Phone.  During this session we'll take a high level pass of Devfish's "at the moment" top ten favorite features in Mango.  Possibilities include any number of new features like sockets, augmented reality capabilities, gyros, camera access, profiler, Silverlight and XNA integration, background execution, database, HTML5, notifications, ringtones, search extensibility, sensors, and more.

About Joe Healy:

Joe Healy (www.devfish.net) is the Developer Evangelist for Florida.  Joe's geographical responsibility is to provide "developer care" for the Gulf States District for the East Region Developer team.  As such, he has responsibilities to bring .NET to development to the masses in his area.

Joe serves a multitude of clients, from corporate accounts to broad reach events and User Groups.  He lectures on various development and architectural topics focused around the .NET Frameworks, Visual Studio.NET, and associated servers.

Joe worked previously for Microsoft Consulting Services in the custom Application Development arena, focusing on Internet, Web Services, Rich Client, B2B, and browser delivered systems.

Joe has also served time with eAngler.com, Cap Gemini, EDS, and IBM in various capacities.

On a personal level, Joe resides in Tampa Bay, Florida, and enjoys spending time trying to coax Redfish, Snook, and Trout from various nooks and crannies in Tampa Bay.  He is married to wife Anne, with two girls, Ryan and Morgan, who will also grow up to be great "fisher-ladies" one day.

Some Housekeeping Items:

Parking:  Downtown Orlando street parking (a.k.a. metered parking) is free after 6:00 p.m.  There are several parallel spots in front of City Hall and on Magnolia (one block east) underneath the 408 overpass.  In addition to street parking, there are other paid parking facilities nearby.  Here's a map displaying the area adjacent to City Hall.  Try using "Bird's-Eye View to get a great picture of the area surrounding City Hall

EventBrite:  Your EventBrite invitation is not required for admission.  The "tickets" are a function of the EventBrite system.
